It was a HOT day which started at a railway station and a small navigational error ;) and so turned into a mammoth 16 miles of amazingness! Andy blames arriving in the car park and being chatted to by the 20 waiting walkers who all wanted to ask a question or two, then allowing Huw to lead on and then not paying attention to the signage, which was believed to be the Taff Trail but in actuality was for the Cynon Trail. But, really, there is no excuse.
Despite the heat everyone was wowed by just how gorgeous The Valleys can be and this mixed route certainly showed off the delights of Merthyr Vale.

We walked the Taff Trail and visited Aberfan Memorial Cemetery before walking over the area that was the tip and onto the delightful ridge which had us walking through forestry and much to the dismay of some, over the head height ferns. The walk should have been about 11 miles in total and so timings for the day were out, for which Andy apologised, but, we don't think many were that bothered by this. It was such a memorable and fine day :)
