Andy, the Wales Outdoors owner was nudged by a member of Adventure Activity South Wales to run a 2017 Solstice walk up Pen y Fan. He hadn't planned on in for this year as he was on his way to Iceland on the 21st June but the nudge was enough and he brought in Jo to run the walk which is now in it's fourth year.
Initially Andy listed the walk for 20 people but this sold out within a few days and people were disappointed that they didn't manage to get a place so Andy brought in Cualann.
Eventually Andy had to cap the numbers at 50 people and brought in the experienced walkers from the meetup group to assist with the running of the event.
And what an evening. Smack bang in the middle of the heatwave and with a little cloud to make for a dramatic sunset this was in absolute contrast to the walk of a couple of years back which felt like a winter solstice walk rather than a summer.
