Yesterday was a bit of an odd day. We were booked to run our popular 'Tunnel Adventure Day' but at the last moment our canoe hire specialist was blocked into their yard by the local council - they were repairing a landslide that followed last weeks torrential downpour...
Following the scratching of heads we decided upon Kites and Mountain Boards as well as the tunnels, this was a good option to repalce the canoeing on the canal at Talybont on Usk. Or so we thought...
We awoke to find a gorgeous day with NO wind... who would believe that we could have such a day in Wales... it's been so long since we had fine, warm weather... but there we are, miracles do, on occassion, happen...
Following discussion with the group and several increasingly frantic phone calls we managed to secure canoe hire from Glasbury, on the River Wye.
The river was at medium height and fairly fast... this was good news as usual summer conditions can be rather tedious with slow water sections and lots of grounding on the pebble bottom of the river.
I will let the pictures from the day tell the rest of the story. Suffice to say, we had a great day with the tunnels in the morning and a good paddle on the gorgeous river Wye in the afternoon.
